This Spring, each week I have been publishing articles about our upcoming course, Learn and Make the Fair Fit Dress. Learn and Make the Fair Fit Dress is 6 week online course to teach you how to make the my unconventional teaching pattern and dress, learning principles of fit and proportion along the way. Since the dress is draped, you have the opportunity to learn another skill to add to your fashion sewing arsenal of techniques too!
The class has limit of 6 people per session- If you are interested, you must apply. Please fill out the application included at the end of this post, and more information will be sent your way. I read each one, and appreciate you taking the time to get in touch!
So far, in this series we have covered key aspects of the pattern and the lessons and principles you will learn. If you missed the previous posts, you will want to go back to get more of an understanding of what I'm about to share with you today- Here's the links so you can check those out now.
I describe the pattern and the teaching approach in this post here:
and I also describe how the pattern can be customized, and show off examples sewn from our local workshops in this post here:
and in this post, we discuss the key principles of proportion that you will learn in the course:
And today, we are going to dig into a very important aspect of the course as well, and that's-
How I'm using video and an online dashboard to demonstrate the process.
With anything taught online, I know its really important for you to have a look at all that is included in the course, and how you will be learning the curriculum and experiencing the course materials.
Learn and Make the Fair Fit Dress has 14 video modules to teach you how to make the dress, use the pattern to customize the fit, and use fashion draping to customize your proportions and fit of the pattern.
I use video to walk you through the process. In the live workshops that I've taught, the students use the dashboard as well, and video is a method of teaching that I have been pivoting toward in the last few years for several reasons. I've found its an incredible resource- live sewing and pattern classes are great and its fun to learn as a group. However, lots of times we forget things learned in classes and until now have not had the chance to revisit.
The online dashboard contains all of the course materials and curriculum. You can access the video lessons and teachings at your own pace and time. And you will be able to keep this part of the class- so that after your 6 week course with me is over, you can revisit and return to the course to make another dress, or access a lesson you need to revisit.
I'm very proud of the amount of material we are able to cover, and the amount of valuable content I am able to share through this method, course, and medium. The best way to show it to you is to give you a tour - watch the video below to get a look inside the course.
Thanks for watching, I hope it got you excited. As always you can contact me if you have any questions. The dashboard is one important part of the course, but there are other aspects as well.
LIVE VIDEO Q&A SESSIONS
You will have the choice of how you want to interact with me, and ask questions during our class Q&A workshops. I host those through a live video streaming platform where I can teach and demonstrate live on video, and you can drop questions into the chat. If you haven't attended one of our live online workshops, you can get a look at how the Fair Fit Pattern was created during this live video workshop I gave this February:

ONE ON ONE MENTORING WITH ME
A lot of sewists are total DIYer's but I know some folks will want extra help, or want personalized advice and teaching on fit specific to their learning and skillset. With this course, you will have the option to get extra mentoring with me if you need it. I offer one on one lessons with me in my advanced mentoring sessions. If you have really important fit topics that you know you will want my help with, you can learn more about those here.
Applications for the Summer Sessions Will Close May 30th!!
The class has limit of 6 people per session- If you are interested, you must apply. Please fill out the application, and more information will be sent your way. I read each one, and appreciate you taking the time to get in touch!
This application is a necessary first step towards working with me- every question is important, and helps me put you in a group of sewists at your skill level. Incomplete applications will not be considered- and please don't apply if you don't like the dress. The pattern is a specific tool and is designed to teach you fit, so you are kind of stuck with the design until you learn how to customize it! Apply here and next steps will be sent your way:
