How to sew clothing seams with a polished finish.
How to sew bias tape and curved hems.
In these lessons we will make a simple shirt. I will provide you with a pattern and a workbook that presents the same process you will learn in your lessons so you can practice again at home on your own. When you register, your pattern and workbook will be emailed to you.
At the end of these lessons, you will walk away knowing how to:
Use and assemble a pdf pattern.

4 great ideas for private lessons
If you are unhappy with the way patterns fit, which, honestly I haven’t met someone who ever sewed a pattern perfectly right out of the envelope, and want to learn how to make your own, private lessons are the best way to address your particular ideas and questions. I can teach you how to draft the basic blocks, create style lines an custom design, and how to use your blocks to create custom patterns. Pattern making is a skill set that is acquired with time and effort and practice, so expect an investment of time and self study, but the results make your investment so worthwhile.
Are you interested in the fashion industry, and want to learn how to make clothing and draft patterns, but don’t necessarily want to go to college full time? Private lessons are a great alternative to full time or part time schooling, and can give you the opportunity to explore design and conceptual concepts to clothing on a flexible schedule. You get to learn at your pace, and I can design lessons based on your pace and core concepts that you want to learn. This is also a great idea for clothing entrepreneurs who need the extra support and skills to apply their ideas to actual, wearable designs.
Have you considered making a wardrobe for yourself that’s all your own and made by your own hand? You'll learn how to customize the colors, cloth, and create clothing that suits your individual needs. You will have pieces that you wear again and again, and patterns to make in a different fabric or color. Together, we can identify core patterns and looks that you love, and make a plan for you to create them. From there, fabric choice and construction is taught, and you will learn how to make your favorite pieces on your own while learning concepts of fashion design and how they apply to your lifestyle.
Got special pieces that you have been dying to sew, but have no idea where to begin? This option is great for sewists who want to learn how to make their garments and really learn a professional sewing process. And it also works for wardrobe builders who want to tackle ready to wear staples that might be intimidating to start all on your own.
